Never mind being the wind beneath our wings, Bette Midler is going to be the face on our television screens as it has been revealed she will appear in Glee.
The 66-year-old Grammy winner was apparently asked to do the show by co-creator Ryan Murphy at a recent event and has now agreed to make a cameo appearance on the all-singing, all-dancing series.
The show, starring Lea Michele, always has big name cameo appearances.
Ryan took to Twitter to express his excitement about the news: “Bette said yes! Amazing. I am plotting… who should she play [sic].”
But it seems Bette herself has a particular character in mind. She would like to play the grandmother of Lea Michele’s character, Rachel Berry. She wrote: “I have one vote for Rachel’s grandmother.”

The Rose singer will join the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Hudson and Sarah Jessica Parker who have all starred in the hit programme.
