Battle of the Friends: Chandler Versus Joey

Have you ever debated with your friends as to who was hotter between the Friends characters Chandler and Joey? We have so you don't have to!

Rebecca McKnight

Rebecca Says: Chandler

A sense of humour literally gets me every time. I really think it is the most attractive thing in a guy and that is why Chandler gets my vote in this battle of between the Friends characters.

In my opinion if you find a guy who can make you laugh you ought to hold onto him with both hands and legs. I know that sounds like you’re having to hold him against his will but hey if that’s what it takes!

Laughter is good for the soul after all and smiling is known to make you live longer. Besides, who doesn’t love a good chuckle?

I’ll admit here and now that Joey probably just about tips the good-looking competition between the two but it’s not like Chandler Bing isn’t attractive. Okay so that sentence in itself sounds a little odd but it’s just because of his unique surname which I also happen to like for the record.

Anyway back to Chandler’s dashing good looks. He’s got that killer smile that just makes you melt, he’s in pretty decent shape and he’s got sparkling eyes. Or so I would imagine if I ever got that close to him in real life.

It’s also his relationship with Monica that makes me lean in his favour. I love the idea of them going from being friends to being in love and living happily ever after laughing all the while and drinking lots of coffee in Central Perk. Aaah, what a life!

And it doesn’t bother me in the slightest that his middle name is Muriel and his father is now a woman who works in Vegas. After all who doesn’t have a few embarrassing secrets? Besides he’s funny, cute and kind. With traits like that, I can get over the rest easily.

Amy says Joey

There’s a reason why Joey Tribbiani was the only Friends character to get his own spin-off show. It was because of all the friends, Joey was the most loveable and (aside from Jennifer Aniston) the most popular.

Okay, so I will concede that the spin-off show was utter shite, but that still doesn’t stop me from holding an irrational amount of love for him. Why do I adore him? Let me count the ways…

Well, first and foremost, he is absolutely hilarious. And yeah, sure, Chandler is pretty funny too, but while Chandler is more sarcastic-funny, Joey is just plain I’m-laughing-so-hard-my-sides-ache funny. C’mon, you know you’re never going to forget the episode where he wore all of Chandler’s clothes and did those lunges? Priceless!

While Chandler is certainly the smarter of the two, you can’t help but find Joey’s eh…dimness…seriously endearing. And I mean that in the best way possible. Joey is a bit like a puppy – you just want to give him a cuddle and tell him that everything is going to be okay.

Joey is also absolutely gorgeous, which puts him miles ahead of the Chan-man in my own estimation. Look at that cheeky grin and that hot body. You just know that you’d be kept nice and safe in those big, burly arms.

Plus throughout the series of Friends Joey is incredibly protective of his sisters – everyone knows that a man with sisters has been trained well when it comes to respecting ladies.

Also, I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one who likes the fact that he comes from an Italian family, yet he can’t speak a word of Italian (aside from that one swear word that he teaches Rachel).

Finally, let’s not forget the fact that Joey is a man who loves his food. He’s always eating. In fact, he’d probably eat anything that you put down in front of him – which is great news if you’re challenged in the culinary-skills department. He’ll always make you feel like a domestic goddess.

So he’s hot, he’s hilarious and he plays the part of Dr Drake Ramoray in Days of Our Lives. Ladies, what’s not to love?
