For those of us that were Barbie fans back in the 90s/early 2000s the best toy you could get was the Dream House.
I never had it, but a friend did and I was mesmerised by the bed you flipped over revealing a bath underneath. Amazing. How can it get any better than this, I thought.
Well, Mashable report the new Dream House will retail at $299, has Wi-Fi, voice recognition software and is basically a smart home in ways real houses aren’t even reaching. Barbie’s house is better than mine.
You can tell the house to give Barbie a ride in the lift, ask it to turn the oven on and the lights react to on and off commands.
Personally, my favourite feature is the ability to set the house up for party mode, with different lighting, and the stairs transforming into a slide. Brilliant, and highly impractical if it was real life.
Barbie also now has her own flying drone. Imagine explaining that one to your child self in 1998. Unthinkable.
I just need to go and come to terms with the fact that Barbie will own more properties than I ever will.
