This is the average age people get married in Ireland

Laura Holland

Welcome to The Bride Files – covering all things related to weddings as Laura prepares for her big day.

Some interesting stats have come from a recent survey on wedding trends that was conducted by the folks over at WeddingsOnline. Back in the day the average age for someone to get married in Ireland would have been in their 20s or even younger but the average age in 2017 is older.

According to the survey, the average age for a bride to get married these days is 31, while the groom’s average age is 33.

December is still the most popular month for engagements, followed by the autumn months.

More and more couples are enjoying long engagements with over 25% of engaged couples waiting more than 2 years to get married with the average run-up to the big day lasting 19 months.

The average amount of bridesmaids people choose to have are three. Friday weddings are on the rise, while July and August topped the polls for the most popular time of the year to tie the knot.

The findings are based on a survey of 2,000 people surveyed in January 2017.
