As an ambulance driver in war-torn Syria, Alaa spend his working days caring for citizens suffering the ravages of conflict.
Off the clock, he’s still devoted to helping those in need. During this time, however, it’s the animal casualties of the fighting that he chooses to focus on.

Alaa spends over 600 Syrian pounds (€3.30 each day) feeding up to 150 cats who have been orphaned as a result of the struggle in Masaken Hanano, a neigbourhood in Aleppo.

Aleppo is the country’s largest city, and is now virtually abandoned after attacks from pro-Assad forces and as families fled the region, pets and strays were left behind. Alaa has been on his feeding mission for over two months now.
