A naked man climbed Newgrange during the Winter Solstice

This is bizarre.

This is bizarre.

The old passage tomb of Newgrange, which is located in Boyne, Co. Meath, attracts thousands of visitors each year. Most people travel to the ancient ritual site at this time of year to see the Winter Solstice.

When the sun rises a chamber within the tomb illuminates. There is a lottery for a ticket to the light display so chances of getting a turn in the chamber during the Winter Solstice are slim.

If you’re lucky enough to get down to Newgrange to see the mound in December you’d probably still enjoy the sun rise regardless of whether or not you’re in the tomb.

This guy, however, had a different objective.

Visitors to the ancient attraction witnessed a man scaling the wall of the mound before posing at the top.
