Smyths Toy Store are being praised for their generosity this week as they have stepped in to help save Christmas after one Dublin family lost everything when their house went on fire on Tuesday.
The terrifying fire hit the headlines this week as bystander Mark Furlong was hailed a hero when he caught three-month-old baby Mila who was dropped down to him by her father from the upstairs window of the burning house.
However, two sacks of toys that had been bought for Christmas were destroyed in the fire at Gloucester Place just off Seán MacDermott Street but toy store Smyths have now vowed to save the day and help the family out.
“We would be delighted to help the family. We will send vouchers to help with the lost Christmas presents,” a spokesperson revealed to The Irish Mirror.
Also speaking to the newspaper mother of baby Mila, Charlene said; “I am so grateful for this. The amount of stuff that got damaged, sentimental stuff, the Christmas stuff, it’s all too much to bear thinking about, but I really appreciate this gesture.
“I can’t thank everyone enough. The support is overwhelming. You don’t realise until you are in a situation like that how quickly people come together,” she said. “It’s a miracle really. I want to thank them (the rescuers) in person. I’m so thankful we’re all alive and recovering. It could have been a lot worse.”
