A Ukrainian immigrant was arrested in Pennsylvania on Tuesday following the revelation that he was fraudulently posing as a teen and attending Harrisburg High Scool.
Artur Samarin registered in the High School under the name Asher Potts.
According to the Associated Press, Samarin assumed the identity once his visa expired. He had falsified documents, including a driver’s licence, to reflect his assumed identity.
ABC 27 reports that Samarin was a model student. He was on the National Honor Society and had a GPA of 4.16. He sat on a panel at a youth summit in January and even met with state lawmakers.
A Harrisburg School District spokesperson, Kirsten Keys, confirmed Samarin’s arrest. She says the school is treating the situation as a serious matter and that the Superintendent and other district officials are fully cooperating with police.
It is unclear how Samarin travelled to America.
