We have never wished more for a Christmas miracle than after reading this story.

A 93-year old man is today facing up to a depressing Christmas, after card skimmers wiped his £23,000 savings from his account.

The elderly gentleman was using his card in a cash machine when he fell victim to a cash machine theft.

According to Sky News, the elderly shopped was attempting to take money out of his local branch in St Peter’s Hill branch of Natwest in Grantham, but was distracted by one of three suspects while another obtained his PIN and switched his cash card.

Police have no released CCTV footage of the incident, as a warning to others and to help track any information by people who may have seen something suspicious in the bank at the time.

Speaking about the investigation, Detective Investigator Simon Bromily said:

“What is quite clear from our enquiries so far is that these three men were very well organised in their deception and very selective about their victim.

“They watched the gentleman as he came into the bank and then carried out this despicable and callous theft.”

So close to Christmas, and to someone so vulnerable, this is a sickening attack.
