9 New Year’s Resolutions You Shouldn’t Make

Life's too short to cut out chocolate

Rebecca McKnight

It’s that time of the year again where we think of a load of things that we’d love to do this year to make ourselves better people. But while New Year’s resolutions are a great way to set goals for ourselves, there are some you should really avoid…

1. Cutting out chocolate

You only live once and besides, what are you going to turn to when you have a bad day or want to watch The Notebook?

2. Losing weight

This is a sure-fire way to a) make you feel crap about yourself b) end up disappointed, and c) make you forget that being healthy is what’s really important.

3. Giving up alcohol… or anything actually

Going old turkey isn’t the way to go… unless it’s in a sandwich the day after a roast dinner.

4. Hitting the gym every day

While this would be a lovely resolution to be able to keep, it’s just not practical. You are better finding a way of keeping fit that you enjoy and do that three to four times a week.

5. Going on a diet

Please refer to point number two on this list.

6. Avoiding Penneys

So you might have spent a bit too much on clothes last year but Penneys has never done anything to deserve this treatment.  If anything, it has saved you money. Your resolution should really be to stick to Penneys.

7. Cutting out men

Don’t punish yourself because of a few plonkers. Cut them out, not men as a whole.

8. Saving money

Sure it would be great to put some money away but don’t let it stop you from buying that handbag you’ve been lusting after and remember, be realistic.

9. Stop stressing

We hate to break it to you but if you’re someone who tends to get stressed, a new calendar year isn’t going to change anything. A nice relaxing bath and trip to the salon might though!
