AGREED.

A new survey by Purina has revealed that we are absolutely a nation of dog lovers.

So much so, that 69% of survey respondents admitted that dog ownership makes a potential date more appealing.

Some Irish folk even admitted to loving their dog more than their partner with 15% admitting they would welcome their dog into the bed over their lover. More like to have their pooch close by at night with 16% admitting their dog sleeps at the end of their bed.

Dogs are an essential part of creating a home as an incredible 69% of families say they believe having a family dog makes a house a home. In comparison, only 55% of respondents said having children makes a home.

Pretty much everyone chats to their dog with 97% admitting to conversing with their pet. 60% said they adopt a childlike voice to do so.

When it comes to naming, half chose human names while half chose doggy names.

So there you have it, having a dog is definitively good for your health, family and dating life.

How could you say no?
