A 65-year old mother of 13 children is pregnant with quadruplets, following several attempts abroad at artificial insemination over the last year and a half.

Annegret Raunigk, who plans to retire from her Russian and English teaching position this year, is already a mother to 13 children ranging in ages from 10 to 44 including quads.

The schoolteacher revealed her decision to try get pregnant again after her youngest daughter told her mother she’d love a little brother or sister:

“After the doctor discovered there were four, I had to give it some thought to begin with.

“On the scan it was just clear to see.”

Raunigk added that she had not considered reducing the number of embryos following her IVF treatment.

When questioned if she is concerned about her future and minding her new babies in her older years, Raunigk said:

“I’m not actually afraid. I simply assume I’ll remain healthy and fit. In matters of organisation I have enough experience, that’s not new for me.”

At 21 weeks into her pregnancy, Raunigk’s doctors say she is healthy and progressing just fine.

Her pregnancy will now be documented by German magazine and radio company RTL, who will follow the pregnancy on its current affairs show.
