6 things that seem ridiculous now everyone has a smartphone

Brought to you by the new Samsung Galaxy A series.

Can you still remember a time without your beloved smartphone?

Back when we still used actual alarm clocks to wake us up and made physical mood boards instead of Pinterest ones.

A lot has changed since then and some of our pre-smartphone ways can seem a little bit bonkers 10 years on.

Here are some of the things that seem absolutely ridiculous now that we are all rocking smartphones 24/7.

Printing out directions before going on a long journey

Or having a map at all for that matter. Before a lengthy journey, we had to print out directions from websites like Mapquest and follow them to the letter. Thankfully we now have Sat Navs and Google maps. Somehow we still manage to get lost.

Bringing a digital camera on a night out

Complete with a case and everything. Before the days of camera phones, you had to gather all your friends in front of a toilet bathroom mirror to get a decent squad pic. Oh, the memories.

Watching the news just to see the weather forecast

Because there was no other way to find out what was in store for the coming week. Now we can tell what the weather is like without even looking out the window.

Using a bus timetable

When was the last time you used a printed out bus timetable? Probably not in a few years. Now that we can check when the next bus is coming with a simple tap, things are a lot easier. Not that they’re ever on time anyways.

Trying to do math in our heads

Before phone calculators came along and made us all super-dependent we would spend a good half an hour at the end of a group meal deciding who owed what and how much of a tip you should leave.

Making plans a week in advance

Organising a time and sticking to it seems like a foreign concept today when we are so used to cancelling, changing plans and rescheduling up until the very last minute.
