A 20-year-old man passed away at the Electric Picnic festival last night, August 30th. Gardaí have confirmed the news this morning.
According to the Irish Times, emergency services were called to the festival in the early hours of this morning. The man was found unconscious in the middle of some tents at the festival by security. The young man in question was from Malahide, Dublin.
The Independent have reported that: “Security on a routine patrol spotted the young man lying on the ground in the middle of a group of tents. When they approached him and tried to get him standing there was no response, and they then brought him to the medics.”

It is understood that there were people in the vicinity of the man in question but security were not sure if they were the man’s friends or if they understood that his condition was serious.
Medical assistance was carried out at the scene and the man was taken to Portlaoise General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Gardaí have not confirmed the cause of death, but have said there was no foul play involved and it did not appear to be the result of violence.
A post mortem is due to be carried out. Festival organisers are due to release a statement soon.
