We don’t think we’re the only ones to be excited about the winter season because when you think about it, there’s a lot to look forward to.

Some of our favourite TV shows are back including New Girl and Revenge, it’s completely acceptable to stay in wearing pyjamas all day when the weather is worse than usual and you have an excuse to buy a new winter wardrobe.

Here’s a few of the reasons we love the cold snap…

TV shows

If you ever needed a reason to stay in, this is definitely it. Some of the best shows on the box have just just made a return and we are loving it. Whether you’re a fan of Schmidt’s one-liners, you’re following Amanda Clarke’s Revenge plot or you just simply LOVE The Mindy Project… there’s plenty to keep you occupied for the next few months.

Festive drinks

It’s a very happy moment when the Christmas coffee menus come out as we have a lot of love for beverages of the seasonal variety. Toffee nut latte, peppermint mocha and eggnog frappuccino… we can’t wait to see what’s on the menu at Starbucks, Costa and Insomnia this year.

Tis the season for black tights

This might be our favourite point so far. Black tights are pretty brilliant when all’s said and done. They go with everything, you’re actually warm and cosy for a change and if you really don’t want to shave your legs, you don’t have to. WINNING.

Battle of the reality shows

It’s that time of year again and whether you love or hate Strictly Come Dancing and the X Factor, chances are you’ve heard plenty about them. We always end up watching them anyway and everyone has a different opinion on who should be eliminated and who has to go through.

Christmas countdown

At the time of writing this, it’s seventy six days to Christmas. Seventy six days in which to shop, prepare, make lists, wrap, sing, dance, party and all of the other fun things that happen in the lead up to the festive season. We’re sorry if it sounds a little early but just we couldn’t leave the Christmas countdown out…

Winter food

There’s certain foods which are best enjoyed at specific times of the year. Ice cream is a summer treat while there’s nothing better than a steaming bowl of chicken soup in the middle of winter. Of course the list goes on to include hot chocolate, mulled wine, turkey and ham, selection boxes, advent calendar. We’re going to have to stop because we’re drooling already.

Autumn winter fashion

Thinking of a list of all the reasons you need that new coat is a very productive procrastination exercise. Particularly when you’re supposed to be studying, working or anything else really. Pinterest style board anyone?!

Ice skating/Skiing/ insert other winter related sport here

Okay, so these sports may not be for everyone. We’re pretty much divided on the issue here, one Her.ie girl loves to ski and another can’t let go of the railings when ice skating or she inevitably ends up on her bum.

New pyjamas for duvet days

While you might feel a little guilty about sitting around in your PJs when the sun is shining, it’s the opposite once the winter season kicks in. A duvet day on the couch watching your favourite films, wearing the new fluffy pyjamas/onesie you bought to celebrate winter starting… is there anything better?!

Snow Day!

They don’t happen that often but that’s what makes them all the more brilliant. An unexpected day off from school or work, now there’s a lot to be said for that.
