There’s nothing quite like rounding up your girls and heading off for the weekend.

It doesn’t matter if you journey to picturesque Donegal and end up in a country pub having a sing song with the locals or your ladies decide it’s time you experience the bright lights of Barcelona.

Whatever the destination, you’re guaranteed to have a laugh and a few of the below experiences.

Forgetting Something

At least if you forget something at the start of the weekend, you’ll (hopefully) be able to retrieve it. Namely your passport, because if you forget that, you’re not likely to go very far. If you’ve forgotten your hairdryer/charger/make-up, chances are your friends will share with you.

Where are we?!

Getting from the airport to your hotel/hostel can be a little tricky and we have been known to get lost on occasion. The same thing can happen when you’re driving along a country back road, with your bestie acting co-pilot, only she abandoned Google Maps long ago so she could find out the latest drama between Cheryl and Nadine. Deep breaths, sure isn’t it all part of the fun…

Cheesy Music

A bit of Girls Just Wanna Have Fun or I Wanna Dance With Somebody is essential before you head out. Making a playlist full of pop numbers (with the odd power ballad thrown in) is a good idea rather than aimlessly throwing your iTunes onto shuffle. While we love Damien Rice he’s not likely to get the party going.

Let’s get a shot!

Opinions are always divided on shots but you can sure there will be call to have one (or more) of some description at some stage of the night. Why not, you’re on your holidays after all! This is usually followed by some serious dance moves. Finally an opportunity to release your inner Beyoncé…

There’s always one

What happens in *insert destination* stays there. This is a good motto for any girls break because no wants to be reminded of the time they mixed vodka with wine (after the shots) and ended up in a very bad way. Not. Fun. At. All.

Having the flanter

A group of girls together can be slightly intimidating for the opposite sex but the brave ones will always try and engage in some banter. You’ll probably recognise “where are you lovely ladies from?” and “what brings you to _?” and we have to give them credit for trying.

“Where is my phone/purse/lipstick?”

Trying to stuff your essentials into a clutch bag is no mean feat and all too often, a prized possession goes missing on a night out. It might be your smartphone which you swear you only left down for two minutes or your favourite lipstick which was recently discontinued (cry face). Either way, this is likely to cause a few tears.

A girly weekend is the perfect time to tell your friends just how much you love them. The ladies bathroom is clearly the only place to have a DMC with complete disregard for the other women banging on the door. Propping up the bar to have the chat is another brilliant idea especially when the bouncer is trying his best to persuade you to leave.

Ouch…

The fear is tough at the best of times but after a girly weekend away, which equals two crazy nights out, you’re likely to be feeling the pain. Never fear, after reliving the events of the weekend you’ll laugh so much the hangover won’t hurt anymore. Or so we hope anyway.

Planning ahead

Heading home is always a bit of a bummer and to distract yourself from the fact that Monday is fast approaching, start planning your next weekend away. Your bank balance may have suffered considerably and you feel you’ve been run over by a bus. Can we do it all again next week please?!
