10 Things…. Gamers Hate the Most

But we need to get to a save point!

Una Kavanagh

There’s something incredibly satisfying about sitting down to a good game and investing some quality time into fun gameplay.

But there are some things about gaming that drives us a mad. Here are 10 things that gamers hate the most:

1) The game crashes when you’re at that crucial save point

There you are, just seconds away from reaching that all important save point when suddenly – the screen freezes. DISASTER.

2) Game spoilers

You know the type: Those who go around revealing some of the upcoming missions or plot lines that you haven’t reached yet!

3) Your younger sibling “accidentally” deletes your save file on your favourite game

“But I was over 50 hours into that game?! Why?!” – Trust lost.

4) Being forced to walk places

There’s nothing more tedious in games than being forced to walk slowly around the place with no option to grab a nearby car/tank/helicopter and head on your merry way.

5) Experiencing the dreaded invisible wall

There’s nothing more irritating than striding with purpose towards an area, when you’re blocked off because you haven’t unlocked it yet. “You cannot reach this area yet” is one of the most hated messages that gamers see in-game.

6) Unskippable cutscenes

Particularly frustrating when you really just want to see more gaming action than cinematic cuts. We’re looking at you Final Fantasy.

7) Having to explain to your parents that you NEED to access a save point before you can stop playing

Seriously, we do! How else is the game meant to know where we last left off?!

8) Having to deal with scratched disks

You fork out €50 on a new game and within weeks it’s scratched and unusable…. Sad times.

9) Waiting for your console to update

Slowest. Thing. Ever. Especially when you’re in the mood to just unwind with a good game!

10) Movie tie-ins that cash-in on their success

The majority of the time, movie tie-in games are a complete waste of time with lazy gameplay and hollow characters simply released to cash-in on the success of a blockbuster. Please stop – original storylines are so much better!
