Forget your Mileys and Selenas of the world, normal women feel their most confident in a bikini at the age of 59, new research has discovered.
Sixty per cent of women said they felt they looked good in their summer wardrobe after hitting 59, including the itsy bitsy bikini.
And many women said they were inspired by the famous snapshot of Hollywood actress Helen Mirren in her red bikini aged 62.
The research was conducted on a total of 2,000 British adults, the Daily Mail reports, and busted the myth that younger women feel happier strutting their stuff on the beach.
In fact, just one in five women aged 18 to 34 were confident in their summer holiday clothes.
A third of women said they felt their body confidence increased with age and they became more comfortable in their skin as they got older.
They said they learnt from their own common mistakes in younger years like buying too-small sizes.
Sixty-two-year-old Mirren showed off her amazing bikini body.
Men, however, said they reached their “summer holiday prime” about 14 years earlier, at the age of 45, the TK Maxx study reported.
Seven out of 10 men of the age questioned said they were confident they’d look good on their holiday. Let’s hope they weren’t sporting their Speedos…
