New research has revealed that we are seemingly further away than ever from achieving a stress-free existence.

Striking the perfect work/life balance and beign able to ‘switch off’ once home are some aspects of life we are all trying to manage.

A new study has shown that women experience a staggering 208 stressful situatioons a year, with our gender feeling the strain far more than men.

Among those most affected are women aged 25-34, many of whom are struggling to “have it all”, to balance their growing career with their finances, relationships and their attempts to getting on the property ladder.

The report involved conducting research on 2,000 adults and found that 25 per cent of women experience a ‘stressful situation’ more than eight times a week compared to just 16 per cent of men.

Stress affects a total of 43 per cent of women by not being able to sleep and indulging in comfort food in times of high pressure.

So what is stressing us out? Apparently, the things that stress women out the most are managing bills and finances and trying to fit everything into one day. Men, however, are more concerned with working long hours and debt.

Neil Shah, director of the Stress Management Society, said: “When we look at the gender split, we can see that men and women are stressed about different things.

“While women worry are more worried about managing bills and finances and juggling their time to fit everything in to their day, men are more concerned about working long hours and  worrying about debt.

“Consequently, the fact that they are worrying about different things could also be a source of tension within relations.”
