According to new research, eating one pear per day will significantly improve your diet.

Pears are rich in magnesium, Vitamin C, fibre and potassium and this study found that eating them on a regular basis can aid weight loss while also contributing to a “better quality of diet”.

As they’re free of fat, cholesterol and sodium, this is the perfect snack for anyone experiencing high cholesterol levels or heart issues.

A study conducted by researchers at the University of Louisiana concentrated on data from 2001 to 2010 for the study.

Factors focused on included diet, nutrient intake and absorption and cardiovascular risk, according to The Daily Mail.

The research established that people who ate pears regularly were 35% less likely to become obese.

One pear contains nearly 24 per cent of the recommended daily fibre intake with Dr Carol O’Neill, who lead the study, saying ” the association between pears and lower weight is very exciting.

“We believe fiber intake may have driven the lower body weights that were seen in this study”.
