We all know that some foods have more calories than others, however few of us are aware of what that difference actually looks like.

Thankfully the folks at WiseGeek.com did a little research and put together a very, very, very interesting photoshoot.

These pictures are sorted from low to high calorie density so that you can easily compare how much bang you get for your buck when it comes to those all important calories. For example, an entire plate of broccoli contains the same amount of calories as a small spoonful of peanut butter – now which do you think would fill you up more?

Every picture contains 200 calories of food. Have a look and let us know if any of these pictures particularly shocked you.

Personally, we now realise that we’ve wasted our lives eating bagels when we could’ve been chowing down on glazed doughnuts instead. Sigh.
