Sweating is an uncomfortable fact of life. Whether it’s that extra km on the treadmill, or running around after kids all day, it’s not unusual to be on a wet patch check.
Like pretending to stretch and taking a quick sniff to check you’re ok.
(Don’t even try to lie, we ALL do it…)
While it’s important to bathe regularly and use a reliable anti-perspirant, some everyday behaviours could be making those wet patches worse.
Here are three lifestyle habits that could be forcing us into the shower asap:
Cooking Catastrophe
We all know that cooking up a delicious feast requires some serious flavours, but be careful to make sure you’re using a mix of ingredients in your daily diets.
Garlic, onions and curry powders are all proven to increase body odour scents. Try mix and match your seasoning and drink plenty of water to flush out the after-effects.
Stress = Sweat
Feeling the pressure in work or at home?
Take a deep breath, because extra stress means extra sweat. Feeling stressed has been proven to increase sweat gland production – which explains why you might feel more moisture under your arms ahead of that job interview.
Instead, try to concentrate on peaceful thoughts when feeling nervous or worked up, or take a short break from your activity to regulate your mood (and your body’s reaction).
You Can Overcleanse…
While most people use an antibacterial soap or shower gel to scrub away at your BO spots, be careful not to overcleanse. As well as damaging the skin’s PH, overcleansing can cause the skin to dry out.
The body’s natural reaction to fight back to dry skin is to produce more sweat, so break that cycle before you’re packing extra deodorant in your handbag.
