Breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day, but are you eating it on a regular basis? If the answer is no, you’re not alone.
In fact, a new survey has revealed that one in every three adults never reach for a bowl of cereal or a slice of toast first thing in the morning, mainly because they’re too busy bringing the kids to school and embarking on their daily commute.
But did you know that skipping your breakfast could force you to fill up on unhealthy snacks later on in the day?
According to the survey, which was conducted by electrical brand Philips, 30 per cent of us eat our breakfast on the go, while 70 per cent of families never actually sit down together to eat first thing in the morning.
Over 2,000 adults were questioned as part of the survey and the majority stated that it takes an average of eight and a half minutes to make and eat breakfast.
“We are a nation of breakfast skippers and family time in the morning seems to have disappeared altogether. But a quick cup of tea and a slice of toast might be more achievable than people realise,” said Tina Withington, a spokeswoman for Philips.

Is breakfast still the most important meal of the day?
Last month, research revealed that cereal bars – the main breakfast choice of commuters short on time – are unhealthier than previously thought.
“The danger with missing breakfast is that you get low blood sugar midway through the morning and then you snack,” said Dr Ollie Hart.
“If people have breakfast they tend to eat slow-release food such as toast or cereal, which sustains them. But if people miss that meal and get hungry they may eat rubbish,” he added.
Can you function through your day if you don’t eat breakfast or are you a lady who is happy to eat and run in the mornings?
