You’ve the membership paid for and your bag is by the door, so what’s your excuse? Why aren’t you going to the gym?
Did you know a whopping 33 per cent of people will quite the gym again after just three months?
Here’s how to stick at it… excuses? What excuses?!
Excuse One: I Don’t Have Time
A common one in this day and age… The trick is to stop thinking of the gym as a day-long excursion. Why not go for a 15 or 30 minute power session instead? You’ll be in, out and showered within the hour. It could be a perfect workout pre-breakfast as it will raise your metabolism for the day ahead, plus you’ll have more time to get ready for work. If you have a busy week, don’t worry.
Just get back on the routine the week after or add an extra weekend session.
Excuse Two: I Can’t Afford It
Keep an eye on the internet for deals at your local gym facilities. There are gyms out there with affordable rates. Choose gym memberships without a contract, so you can back out if you have to tighten the purse strings.
Excuse Three: It’s Boring
This is fair enough, and a very common excuse. There are ways to make your workout more exciting though. Be sure to chop and change your routine. Of course it’s not going to be fun running on the same spot for an hour, looking at a blank wall. You could invest in one personal training session so you know how to use all the equipment.
You could create a music playlist with the most get-up-and-go tunes around, the time will fly with your earphones in. Try and pick a treadmill facing a television or the swimming pool so you have things to watch.
Or, cut your gym session in half so you love going, enjoy yourself there and you leave wanting more…
