Ladies, if you’re a fan of wine you might want to look away right now, because unfortunately we have some bad news for you. According to some new research, just one glass of wine a day could trigger breast cancer and other tumours in your body. Scary, isn’t it?

Yes, it doesn’t matter if it’s red, white or rosé, apparently our intake of wine is something we seriously need to be keeping an eye on, for the sake of our own health.

A team of scientists from the University of Milan and other centres in the US, Canada, Iran, France and Sweden compared effects between people who drank one glass of wine a day and people who only indulged on the odd occasion.

The research discovered that in the people who enjoyed a glass every single day, there were detectable increases in cancer cases that involve the mouth, throat and breast.

Scientists believe that drinking wine on a daily basis is bad for your health.

The team of scientists estimated that drinking wine every day caused 5,000 deaths from breast cancer every year on a global scale.

When you view it like that it seems a bit crazy, doesn’t it? The study, which was published in the noted Annals of Oncology, was carried out because various other studies have shown that alcohol intake, especially heavy drinking, can increase a number of cancers in the upper-digestive track.

Remember ladies, the recommended weekly alcohol allowance for women is 14 standard drinks, spaced out over seven days and not consumed in one sitting. If you’d like to learn more about your alcohol consumption, visit DrinkAware.ie.
