The serious case of munchies after the gym means we can end up stuffing our faces with all the wrong foods. We need to reward and energise our bodies, here are the five foods you should avoid post-workout.

You’ve just spent an hour in the gym, let’s be honest with ourselves, you must have a serious case of the munchies now.

Feeling peckish after your workout is completely normal. It is your body’s way of telling you to recharge your energy levels so you really shouldn’t skip a meal.

It’s a complete myth that eating straight after exercise is undoing your hard work, your body is much more complicated (and smarter!) than that.

A meal with good carbohydrates, protein and some good fats , like a chicken salad with olive oil, would be a good choice to help your body repair muscles and re-energise.

However, most of us reach for our favourite snack foods that are nothing but empty calories, the last thing they will do is re-energise your body.
