Being inspired by someone can be the first step to success.

An insight into one successful Irish lady’s life could give you the pep in your step you’ve been looking for…

Every day this week we’ll be inspiring you with one Irish woman who’s known for her healthy lifestyle and her success in sport, in association with Avonmore Slimline Milk.

It’s onto the GAA pitches of Ireland today as we’re inspired by Wexford camogie player Ursula Jacob.

Ursula’s medal cabinet includes All Star awards in 2010 and 2011 and All-Ireland Senior medals in 2007, 2010 and 2011, when she scored an outstanding goal in the 52nd minute that secured the win for the Yellow Bellies.

With a total of 3-54, Ursula was also the highest scoring player in the Senior Championship of 2011.

The camogie player’s sister is the county team’s substitute goalkeeper and her brothers are Wexford hurlers Michael and Rory. Her father Mick was also the county’s first hurling All Star in 1972. Her mother, Breda, also played with the county in the All-Ireland Junior camogie final of 1972.

Jacob started playing with the Wexford senior team when she was just 15 years old.

Ursula can inspire you towards a healthier lifestyle and put the pep in your step with the following health and motivation tips for camogie players:

1. For a healthy diet, never underestimate fish. Including fish in your diet can reduce the risk of heart disease. It is also a rich source of protein.

2. GAA players spend the majority of their team on the pitches and fields of Ireland and we all know our temperatures aren’t exactly tropical. Keep illness at bay and your immune system in tip-top condition, whether you’re a player or not, by making sure you eat your five-a-day in fruit and vegetables.

3. Camogie requires fitness, agility, balance and skill. You mightn’t aspire to being a part of your local or county GAA, but keep your fitness in check with a daily walk. Wrap up and get out into the fresh air a couple of times a week, you’ll notice a difference in your fitness levels.
