Believe it or not ladies, in the next few years the male contraceptive pill could actually become a reality. Good news? Well…it seems not all of us are thrilled about this development – mainly because we don’t trust the men in our lives to take the pill on a daily basis.

A survey conducted by researchers at the University of Kansas has revealed that even if the men in our lives were taking the male pill, the vast majority of us womenfolk would still continue to take our own form of contraception just in case.

Researchers interviewed 300 people in long-term relationships and 92 per cent expressed interest in the idea of a male pill. However, while 81 per cent of men believed that they could be trusted to take the pill every single day, only 66 per cent of women had the same level of confidence in them.

We already trust men to carry condoms so should we trust them with a pill?

We think it says a lot that three-quarters of the women questioned said that they would still continue to take their own contraception, even if their man was taking the male pill.

According to doctors, this lack of trust is natural given the fact that the end result of your man not taking the pill could result in a pregnancy. However, Dr Allan Pacey, the chairman of the British Fertility Society believes that things might change when the contraceptive is available.

“Maybe when the pill becomes available we’ll suddenly relax about it,” said Dr Pacey.

What do you think ladies? Would you trust your man to take a contraceptive pill every day or would you have reservations about it?
