It’s getting colder!
I must say though, I do love the cosy day time winter fashion accessories, including my wooly jumpers, scarfs and gloves, and we all love a bit of layering up and so on.
But, don’t let your Fashion faves make you slack off on your workouts! We all indulge more and tuck in to more food and drink around the holiday season as we enjoy Christmas party dinners and drinks, but listen up – don’t take the “I’ll layer up to hide the extra inches” option!
The answer can be easier.
Maintain yourself and keep on top of your fitness from now until Christmas and you’ll enjoy those Christmas choccys a whole lot more. Also, it’s way easier this way than to try bounce back to fitness in January when it’ll feel like a mountain to climb.
A little training now will not only make you feel better, it will condition your body, making it much more capable of fighting the Christmas food and drink challenge.
Top Tips:
Don’t skip your brisk walk in the morning to work – just wrap and keep going.
Grab a fitness DVD and maybe do 20 minutes in the morning or evening. Two or three times a week if you’re busy working at least, in the evening you can pop it in and burn off some extra calories without rushing off to the gym.
If the gym is possible, try to take advantage of some free trial runs on the gym floor with a view to taking a membership in January. Good gyms are very understanding and will want to work with you. Try get a workout in and familiarise yourself with the equipment, or maybe try a class at the gym if this is an option.
If you can, join a weekly evening class. Pay up for just the next six weeks to take you up to Christmas, with a view to review in 2013.
Trust me, it’s better to keep the extra pounds at bay now before the party starts.
Spinning is one of my favourites and it is an excellent way to burn calories. Especially if your plan is to indulge a little over Christmas, now at least you can do it guilt free. Spinning is faced-past and a motivating, fun class and in just 45 minutes you can burn from 300-500 calories!
A morning jog at the weekend is also a good option, even 20 minutes will go a long way and help clear your head after a hectic week as well as burning more calories.
Walk the dog, cycle with the family – get your blood pumping and grab some fresh air.
Keep active, have fun and let ole Santa baby to be the only belly you see this Christmas!
