For those of you who are not aware, the Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain Golf Skills Challenge is a competition which aims to find Ireland’s most skilled amateur golfers and reward excellence. Golfers, male & female, can test their aptitude with five core golfing skills; Driving, Target Golf, Pitching, Up and Down, and Putting.

The competition is open to all golfers aged 16 or over, who have an official GUI or ILGU handicap, and the introduction of an updated format means that more people than ever can take part.

The new format includes a specially designed Golf Skills Challenge Tool Kit providing Golf Clubs throughout Ireland the tools necessary to organise and host a Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain Golf Skills Challenge of their own. Clubs can get involved by registering for a Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain Golf Skills Tool Kit by visiting www.bettergolf.ie.  At that point, clubs can get involved by registering for a Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain Golf Skills Tool Kit where, as with previous years, teams and individuals compete to become the Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain National Skills Champion for 2014.

Those who take part will have their scores registered on a national score board, which will be hosted on www.bettergolf.ie.ie and the top 60 qualifiers will progress to a national final which will be hosted by Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain and will take place in the GUI National Golf Academy in September.

Top performance coach Karl Morris joined Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain at the launch of the Golf Skills Challenge last week. Karl Morris delivered a course for PGA professionals based on his renowned Mind Factor series. Morris, who has worked with major winners such as Graeme McDowell and Louis Oosthuizen, is a proponent of effective practice – something that the Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain Golf Skills Challenge has as a core value.

Kenny Fahey, Head Professional at the GUI National Golf Academy notes “This challenging but fun competition really gives Clubs and their Professionals a structured way in which to develop the golf skills of their members. With the support of our partners Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain we are able to bring the challenge to a wider audience this year.”

Commenting on the partnership Jim McNeill, Managing Director of Kellogg Ireland said: “As a long suffering golfer, I know how important the core skills of the game are. We are delighted to be able to continue to support this partnership with the GUI National Golf Academy.”

There is no entry fee for this competition and details are available at www.bettergolf.ie.
