A new study has revealed that the secret to a smaller waistline begins with breakfast.

The research discovered that men and women who ate a small breakfast didn’t in fact compensate by eating more later in the day.

Because of this there was a major cutback on their calorie intake, the Daily Mail reports.

The men and women who took part in the study were offered biscuits later in the day and were monitored as they ate lunch.

They also took note of what they ate for the rest of the day.

Their total calorie cutback was a massive 270 calories on a daily basis.

A small balance breakfast is the perfect way to start your day.  

It is believed that the secret to cutting back on calories is to make small changes to your everyday diet, so small that it’s impossible for us to feel hungry or feel like we’re missing out.

Researcher Susan Jebb said: “It suggests that small reductions in portion sizes can be a helpful strategy to control weight.

“Don’t underestimate the impact of small differences, particularly when they are repeated day in, day out.”
