If like us you’re trying to shift the festive flab and are madly counting calories, points and percentage of protein in every bite you eat, rejoice because a new dieting weapon has been released and promises to do all the hard work so you don’t have to.
HAPIfork, debuted this week at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas is essentially a fork that’s been devised to stop you from eating too much.
But, the fork doesn’t weigh your food or calculate calories -it instead monitors the speed at which you are eating and buzzes if you’re shovelling your dinner into you too fast.
The device is based on the idea that most people feel full after 20 minutes yet still continue to stuff themselves so if you can slow them down, they’ll lose weight.

Mmm appetising!
HAPIlabe, the French company behind the product suggest that diners should wait at least 10-15 seconds between bites and that the fork will adapt to your eating pattern over time to create a tailor-made timetable that will force you to eat slower.
We’ve heard of using smaller plates to trick us into thinking we’re getting more grub but something tells us that a buzzing fork would be just plain irritating!
So what do you think? Ingenious or a sad sign that we’re all just greedy guzzlers?
Either way, if you do want to revolutionise the way you eat, the HAPIfork will set you back €75 ($99) and will be available to buy later this year.
