Keep your  health and wellbeing in check with reflexology, otherwise known as ‘zone therapy’.

Using specific points in the hands and feet, therapists can trigger your body to heal itself…

What is reflexology?

Reflexology, or zone therapy, is the holistic practice of treating points and areas in the feet and hands that relate to corresponding parts of the whole body.

Using trained hand and finger techniques, a reflexologist can improve circulaton, induce relaxation and enable homeostasis.

It’s believed that this encourages the person’s own healing systems to be activated to maintain their own wellbeing.

What is the history of the complementary therapy?

Reflexology is a healing art which dates back to ancient Egypt and China. They found that applying pressure to one part of the body could create a response in another.

Who can benefit?

Reflexology is suitable for both men and women, at all ages.

What happens during the actual treatment?

A reflexology treatment lasts for about one hour. You will be asked to remove your socks and shoes and to sit or lie on a treatment chair or couch.

The reflexologist will then use their hands to apply precise pressure techniques to the feet treating specific points which correspond to all organs and systems of the body.

Following treatment, any significant findings will be discussed with you.

Encourage your body to heal itself with reflexology…

How will I feel after treatment?

In order to gain maximum benefit from your reflexology treatment try to rest afterwards as this helps to boost the body’s natural healing abilities.  Increasing the amount of water that you drink can help to flush the toxins out of your system thereby aiding the detoxifying process

After one or two treatments, most people note a sense of well-being and relaxation. Sometimes people report feeling lethargic, nauseous or tearful, but this won’t last long and is a part of the healing process.

Let your reflexologist know how your body is responding to treatment. This will help the reflexologist to tailor a treatment plan specific to your needs.
