There you have it.
A new year, the perfect time to tweak some changes and make you a better person, looking and feeling fan-bloody-tastic.
Your resolutions don’t have to be massive life changes, here are the top ten ways to have you making the most of 2013.
1. Focus
Do you have a long list of resolutions per every other year ready to combat? Simplify it and you’ll tick more off by the year’s end. Setbacks are inevitable while making a change. There are ways to prioritise so you get real results.
2. Think Big
You can check off your goal of exercising 30 minutes each day, but then help yourself to a second helping of chocolate mousse. It’s not very consistent with your true overall desire to be fit. Identify a value, like health or finance, that becomes your focus for the year and make it work.
3. Pick What Matters Most
There is no point in having resolutions for the sake of it. How to tell if your idea is a keeper? Pretend it’s 2014, are you grateful you made the change? If your answer is “meh”… drop it.
4. Spring Clean
We talk about looking better and getting more value for our buck. Make the move to re-organise your wardrobe, it’s the first step to looking and feeling fabulous everyday.
5. Simplify And Give Yourself Time
If you get a shiver in your spine looking at your phone’s calendar, you’re over-scheduling yourself. Don’t try to do too much at once.
6. Pencil Yourself In
Get that calendar back out and pencil yourself in. Is it a twenty minute walk, a coffee with friends or an episode of Emmerdale you enjoy? Make it happen and enjoy.
7. Keep It Real
Swap the shortcuts you make when it comes to food. Rethinking which ingredients you buy premade can cut time and boost flavour too. Frozen peas are just as good as fresh in many dishes, but there’s no substitute for freshly-grated cheese. It’s healthier and it tastes so much better.
8. Lighten The Luggage
Your wardrobe is clutter-free, now it’s time to tackle your handbag. It’s a great way to feel instantly more organised. Take a minute after each day and clear your bag of receipts, rubbish and replenish any supplies you might need for the next day. Success.
9. Make Peace With Your Trigger Foods
That’s it, no more chocolate, ever! Put it down! Well, that’s hardly realistic, is it? Banning your favourite treat is bound to backfire on you. Cue: major binge and a big disaster. Make peace with your trigger foods. Allow yourself to have them once or twice a week.
10. Re-Think Your Career
The most important thing is to ask yourself are you happy. If you’re not, don’t worry, it is not the end of the world. Check out the top tips to re-think and succeed in your career in 2013 here.
