Manuka Honey comes from the nectar of the Manuka Bush (Leptospermum scoparium) which is indigenous to New Zealand and has been used by the Maori people for many centuries. With a high level of antibacterial efficiency it has proven to fight bacteria and is considered as an alternative to antibiotics and traditional forms of medicine.

Unlike ordinary honey, manuka honey contains powerful antibacterial, antimicrobial, antiviral, antioxidant, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal properties, making it extremely effective in treating a wide variety of health conditions. Manuka honey has slowly become one of the favoured ways to treat certain wounds and ailments, particularly colds and flu.

There are several ways to consume manuka honey. It can replace traditional honey where possible in certain recipes, added into breakfast smoothies, or spread on toast. The easiest way however is the old fashioned honey and lemon hot drink, perfect for adults and kids.
Manuka Honey & Lemon Hot Drink

1. Simply boil the kettle.
2. Squeeze one quarter of a fresh lemon (optional) into a mug.

5. Enjoy.
Not only will you be preventing nasty cold and flu symptoms but having a Manuka honey hot drink in the morning will also give you a much needed energy boost.
