Our poor eyes really get the brunt of modern day life…
We spend our day at the computer screen and our eyes really feel the effect.
When you arrive home from work, it should be just that. Give your body a rest from the strains of the day.
Take ten minutes out before the evening rush begins and try out the following ritual.
These five quick tips are a short routine that will relieve your eyes of any strain or pain from the busy day.
If you see a difference in tiredness or headaches, which we guarantee you will, do it the day after too, until this routine becomes a very worthwhile habit.
Take Five
Give yourself a few minutes, get comfortable, close your eyes, take off your glasses if you wear them, slow down, relax and take deep breaths. Just for a few minutes to really give your eyes a break. The computer can be very, very tiring to look at all day.
Stop Work When The Clock Says So
Oh, we love the sound of this tip! When you get home, avoid work for a period of time. You’ve been working on a screen all day so don’t jump right into checking your email or playing on your phone. Can we go a day without looking at some sort of screen? Probably not, so do give yourself a break.
Look At The Lighting
You want a gentle, soft light that’s not too bright or high intensity when you get home from work. Try dimming a light, or turning on a lamp rather than the main light. See how your eyes feel, you don’t want to put them under strain from too little or too much light.
Blink
We don’t blink half enough. And we blink even less when we’re doing intense work. If your eyes are dry, close them or use eye drops.
Massage
We’re serious, give yourself an eye massage. Your forehead muscles get very tense from working in front of the computer. Take a few minutes to massage the head, brow and neck.
