The aim of this article is not to make you run out of the office/library/your bedroom sweating, panicking over the amount of chocolae you’ve consumed since 7am Sunday morning or to send you running from the aforementioned place with a full body detox planned and ready to go…
It was Easter, we all enjoyed ourselves and at the centre of enjoyment was chocolate, we know that.
The average Easter egg contains around 530 calories, but add the treats and choccie sidekicks and you’re talking about 1,000 calories consumed per beautifully-packaged egg.
Bikini season is on its way, so we’re just here to help you along the way, no panic needed.
Choose the challenge of your choice and banish those extra calories for good…
1. RUN
Run at a constant speed of 7mph for an hour. Fitness needed, but results are worth the challenge.
2. BOX
Kick-boxing is almost as calorie-busting as running. You can burn up to 900 calories an hour, depending on how much you want to push yourself during the session.
3. SQUASH
You can burn more than 800 calories after an hour on court. Go sweat!
4. SWIM
We’ve already surprised ourselves with the benefits of swimming this week, it remains one of the biggest calorie-burners out there. You do need to push yourself. Calorie burning levels all depend on what stroke you choose. An hour of butterfly will burn 1,000 calories, breaststroke at a reasonably fast pace can burn 750 calories, front crawl comes in third at 700, backstroke at around 600 and a leisurely swim floats in at 400.
5. CYCLE
A leisurely cycle might only burn around 350 calories, but work on your pace and you could hit the 600 mark. If you’re tough enough to try spinning, do. You could burn 800 calories in the hour.
6. WALK
Walking can be made more effective than just a leisurely stroll. Walking at 3mph burns 300 calories an hour but hiking uphill could burn around 425 calories.
7. SKIP
Grab your rope, skipping can burn 700 calories in an hour.
8. STUCK…
You don’t have the time or the money to join the gym. No fear, your everyday jobs add up to. Cleaning the house can add up to 450 calories an hour if you step up the pace and give the hoovering a bit of welly. Gardening for half an hour can clock up a calorie burn of 350 calories an hour.
