Glide your way to fitness… sounds nice, doesn’t it!
Fitness fans, today I’m giving you the heads up on another useful tool to snap up, Fitness Glider Discs.
Fitness Glider are a new and fun way to tone you up, concentrating on your chosen areas, whether your core in particular needs work or you want to work your legs/bum etc.
The gliders create another extra little challenge in your workout whether it be at boot camp or your own personal training programme, and they are now featuring quite a lot in Pilates classes.
You’ll find when used correctly they will help tone up your bum and legs and burn fat fast as you are heavily working and isolating those muscles, but at the same time they’ll also be working your tummy muscles hard. Ouch!
As I’ve said many times before, Pilates is an excellent way to achieve long lean arms and legs, core strength – the works really, so how do gliders add to this?

Gliders and Pilates
Gliders are now often used in a Pilates classes to add variety and a cardio element to your workout, and help you burn even more as you train.
They have so many variations when using them, from placing your feet in them whilst in a Plank type position, bringing your feet in an in-and-out motion alternating them, or bringing your knees right into your chest at a fast pace will bring you to tears with the crunch! This style will give you a mega-challenging cardio exercise.
Before gliding discs were made some people used tissue or paper plates. However I’d advise you don’t try this at home and always follow gym instructor’s advice or home DVD instructions to avoid any injury. It’s always best to get proper guidance and instruction in a class or at the gym first if you have this option.
There are a series of exercises to choose from:
- Sliding lunges
- Standing Leg circles
- One leg squat
- Hamstring Slides
- Push-ups
Gliders add more of a challenge and an element of cardio to your mat Pilates class so you are working harder whilst having a giggle and fun too.
Check them out at your gym and see what you can achieve.
Best of luck for good results!
