“Can You Please Help Me? Ryan Gosling Has Given Up Acting!” Don’t Worry, There’s “The Gosline” For That!

There’s helplines for giving up just about everything... including Ryan Gosling

Sue Murphy

Earlier this week, Ryan Gosling announced that he was giving up acting in order to focus on his directorial career. The actor, who has starred in the likes of The Ides of March, Crazy Stupid Love and Drive, informed fans that he wanted to focus on new directorial project How to Catch a Monster.

The actor commented: “I think this is probably a good way to learn about that. I need a break from myself as much as I imagine the audience does. There’s a lot of pressure to be the lead of a film. I have done it. It’s not my favourite way to work.”

After we spent an hour sobbing and insisting that WE did not need a break, we started to look around for ways to deal with what had happened. Following a couple of incidents with some alcohol and the, ahem, police, we heard about this helpline.

A website entitled Blinkbox has set up a helpline for Ryan’s fans called “The Gosline”. If you are feeling low, you can ring the emergency number and listen to a number of the actor’s audio recordings. According to NME, one of the recordings is the famous speech from The Notebook: “So it’s not gonna be easy. It’s gonna be really hard. We’re gonna have to work at this every day, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, forever, you and me, every day.”

A spokesperson for Blinkbox stated: “We couldn’t bear the thought of the distress caused by Ryan’s announcement. We hope that this goes some way to relieving the pain and hurt caused by his selfish decision to take a break.”

Finally, there’s someone thinking of the fans! How could you Ryan? HOW COULD YOU?
