No matter how strong your willpower, diets are daunting and a new study released today has found that sometimes, denying yourself the foods you love can actually cause you to put on weight.
The study of 1,000 women in Britain conducted by the artificial sweeter brand Splenda, also found that one in ten women can only last a week on a diet but that the average woman can last for up to five weeks, two days and 43 minutes!
Typically, women embark on a dieting regime 2.7 times a year but more than 12 percent will cut down on the calories up to five times a year.
And, the reasons why so many women continuously feel the need to change their body shape? Some of the most popular include catching a glimpse of themselves in an unflattering photograph, shop window or if their sex life has become a bit uneventful.

Takeaway temptation…
Others interviewed for the study said a break-up or realising they were the fattest person in the office were the main reasons behind deciding to go on a diet.
But, perhaps the most interesting fact that the study revealed is that nearly a third of the women who took part have actually put on weight during a diet due to giving into cravings.
The top five cravings that people find hard to resist include chocolate, crisps, cheese, bread and wine and other treats that proved too hard to give up include Chinese food, biscuits and cakes.
