This is why McNuggets are shaped the way they are

Just in case you ever wondered.

Just in case you ever wondered.

We’re all probably familiar with the shape of McDonald’s McNuggets. They have a very distinct look and aren’t just circular pieces like you might find elsewhere.

Well, it turns out that’s all a very carefully thought out plan by the big wigs in McDonald’s.

According to Metro, they thought long and hard about the amount of shapes and sizes they would offer customers and narrowed it down to four. They chose four on the basis that three was too few and five was too many.

According to Metro, they thought long and hard about the amount of shapes and sizes they would offer customers and narrowed it down to four. They chose four on the basis that three were too few and five were too many.

What’s more, each shape has a name; the ball, the boot, the bow-tie, and the bell.

Apparently, they were chosen because of their “perfect equilibrium of dipability and fun”. They also said, “We also make them similar in size to ensure consistent cooking times for food safety.”
