Happy Meals are a childhood tradition and the little plastic toy made us happier than we’d care to admit.
However, the fast food giant is adopting a different approach for the next two weeks as its US stores will replace Happy Meal toys with books.
There are four books in the line-up: three (Clark the Shark Takes Heart by Bruce Hale, Happy Valentine’s Day, Mouse! by Laura Numeroff and Felicia Bond, and Pete the Cat: Valentine’s Day Is Cool) are based on a love theme which is no major surprise in the run-up to Valentines Day and the final one is a classic, none other than Paddington Bear himself.

We love Paddington Bear
This isn’t the first time McDonalds has introduced books and they predict that by the end of 2016, they will have distributed 50 million Happy Meal books.
Carol Rasco, chief executive at Reading is Fundamental, released a statement on the issue, saying: “Books are the building blocks for a better future.
“They foster the imagination, expand our understanding of the world and fuel a lifelong love of learning. We are pleased McDonald’s is helping millions of children discover”.
