The allegations emerged last week.
As this season of X Factor’s live shows were set to begin, boyband Brooks Way were suspended from the show due to allegations relating to Josh and his ex-girlfriend Amelia Clarke.
It was then decided that they would not return to the show and they were replaced by girl band Four of Diamonds.
He has now admitted that there was truth behind the abusive allegations.
Speaking to the Sun he said:
“From the bottom of my heart, I am really, really sorry.”
“My relationship with Amelia had become really volatile and toxic. We were arguing all the time, it wasn’t great and things got physical.
“There was one situation that got really hostile.”
The singer initially denied the claims calling the allegations ‘false’ and stating on twitter that ‘the truth always wins’.
“I understand it is totally out of order and I’m really sorry that I didn’t walk away. I allowed things to get to that point and it’s not acceptable.
“I’m sorry I allowed that situation to carry on, I’m sorry we’re sat here now and I’m sorry that I made the wrong choices. I feel very guilty and ashamed.
“I feel bad for Kyle, I feel very sad for my nan, who has always brought us up to be well-mannered and respectful, and for my friends and family.
“I’ve let them all down and I take responsibility for that.” He said.
He mentioned his nan above, as she raised the boys because their parents were heroin addicts adding that he would not use his troubled background as an excuse for his mistakes.
He then added:
“I don’t know how to deal with some things emotionally. I’ve had counselling in the past and think I need to speak to someone again.
“I need help to understand this situation and move forward.
“There’s nothing I can do to change the past. But I have learned a very important lesson that’ll stick with me for the rest of my life.”
