Reality TV show Big Brother is making its return to Irish television for the first time since 2010.
TV3 announced the news today at a special event attended by Big Brother’s Bit on the Side presenter Rylan Clark and former Irish Big Brother contestant Hazel O’Sullivan.
In a deal inked with Endemol Shine, TV3 Group will air over 200 hours of the fly-on-the-wall reality series including spin-off show Big Brother’s Bit on the Side. The deal will also see TV3 broadcast Celebrity Big Brother, with series’ scheduled for this autumn and January 2016.
Hosted by Emma Willis, this year’s Big Brother ‘Timebomb’ theme will see a Mad Men-influenced, ’60s-style decor for the new house. Big Brother will play with time during tasks and have secret missions to create tension in the house. Rylan will host Big Brother’s Bit on the Side, set to feature all the latest news and reactions from the house.
Speaking today at the official launch of Big Brother on TV3, Rylan said: “It’s an absolute pleasure to be back here in Ireland after all the support I’ve received from everyone here since The X Factor and even more exciting to be returning to my Irish TV home TV3 and 3e with Big Brother: Timebomb. We have had so many fantastic Irish housemates over the years and this year promises to be one of our best and I’m absolutely thrilled that the Irish citizens can share the journey with us.”
The BAFTA-winning series is one of the world’s most successful television brands. The new series begins Tuesday 12th May at 9pm on 3e.
