Rally the realm, it’s time to start snooping.
The final season of Game of Thrones is just a few days away, and the exact details of what’s going to happen are probably one of the most well kept secrets in Westeros.
Particularly when it comes to how the series is going to end – with theories of who will be sitting on the Iron Throne at the end flying around faster than it took Gendry to run to the Wall.
However, fans have their first clue about the ending of it all – thanks to a Spotify playlist.
David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have created Game of Thrones: The End Is Coming for the end of the series, with plenty of their favourite songs.
Oh, and it also includes the answer to the ending – if you can find it, that is.
They told For The Record:
“The answer to the ending is one hundred percent hidden in the playlist choices. No one will believe us, but it’s true.”
Among the songs on the playlist? Love Is Blindness by U2; This Sentence Will Ruin/Save Your Life by Born Ruffians; Listen to the Lion by Van Morrison; Power by Kanye West; Her Black Wings by Danzig; Sleep Now in the Fire by Rage Against The Machine; and Girl from the North Country by Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan.
So, basically, we’ve no clue where the show is going.
The series’ creators added that the initial intention of the 50-song playlist wasn’t to get fans scrambling for clues, but to get them pumped up in the lead up to the new season.
They added:
“We were looking for songs that made us feel the way the show made us feel. There’s variety in there—Rage is not Johnny Cash. But they both have a deep inherent power.”
- Game of Thrones returns to Sky Atlantic and NOW TV on April 15.
