The Big Bang Theory Producers Sued Over ‘Soft Kitty’

Sheldon's going to have to find a new song.

Sheldon’s going to have to find a new song.

If you’re a fan of The Big Bang Theory then you’ll be familiar with the song Sheldon Cooper gets sung to him when he’s sick, ‘Soft Kitty‘.  What you probably didn’t realise is that a very similar lullaby existed long before Sheldon was using it, ‘Warm Kitty‘.

Sheldon is one of the central characters in the popular sitcom and is played by Jim Parsons. The simple lyrics, ‘Soft kitty, warm kitty, little ball of fur’, are sung to soothe him when he’s feeling poorly.

Warm Kitty‘, originally written by Edith Newlin, is a lullaby included in a children’s book, ‘Songs for the Nursery School‘.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the author’s daughter is suing CBS and the producers of The Big Bang Theory for not getting the correct authorisation for the use of the song.
