When Ryan Gosling announced that he would stepping behind the camera and starring in less films, the whole (female) population of the known world entered a period of mourning.
However, there has been much discussion about his directorial debut, Lost River. The film screened at Cannes just today and has been receiving mixed reports, many comparing it to Lynch and Del Toro, others declaring that it is entirely pretentious.
