Stuck indoors? Eight movies to watch on TV this week

Grab a blanket.

Anna O'Rourke

Let’s face it, you’ll probably be in front of the telly a good bit this week.

Even if Storm Emma doesn’t turn out to be as bad as predicted and trap us indoors, it’s going to be nippy so you might as well sit in and enjoy some movies.

As it’s a weather event and not Christmas week, there isn’t a stunning selection of seasonal films on but you may as well record these to watch later instead of another episode of Homes Under The Hammer.

Black Swan

An ambitious, uptight ballerina (Natalie Portman) begins to lose her mind when forced to compete with a new rival (Mila Kunis).

When: Tuesday at 11.25pm on Film4

Safety Not Guaranteed

Two journalists (Aubrey Plaza and Jake Johnson) respond to a newspaper ad looking for people to travel in time.

When: Thursday morning at 1.25am on Channel 4

Pitch Perfect

You don’t really need a plot synopsis for this one, do you?

When: Thursday at 9pm on Film4

Pride and Prejudice

A cosy period drama that was made for snow days.

When: Friday at 6.15pm on Film4

Mr Deeds

Adam Sandler inherits a fortune and the world’s largest media company when a long-lost relative dies.

When: Friday at 8pm on Comedy Central

Les Misérables

The epic musical starring Anne Hathaway, Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe Eddie Redmayne and Amanda Seyfried.

When: Friday at 9.35pm on RTÉ 2

Blades of Glory

This comedy about competitive ice-skating will fill the Winter Olympics-shaped hole in your life.

When: Friday at 11.05pm on BBC1
