Stop Everything! Disney Pixar Announce Sequel To Finding Nemo – Finding Dory

We are really praying this is not a belated April Fool’s joke...

Well, it seems like the rumours are all true! Finding Nemo, the beloved Disney Pixar animation from 2003 is finally getting a sequel named Finding Dory which is due to be released in 2015.

Although there were rumours last summer that Disney Pixar were in the process of filming a sequel, the official title for the film has just been confirmed today as Finding Dory. Ellen DeGeneres confirmed the title on her Facebook page, annoucing “It’s official!” at the top of the post.

According to the Slash Film, DeGeneres has confirmed in a press release the project is going ahead “I have waited for this day for a long, long, long, long, long, long time. I’m not mad it took this long. I know the people at Pixar were busy creating ‘Toy Story 16.’ But the time they took was worth it. The script is fantastic. And it has everything I loved about the first one: It’s got a lot of heart, it’s really funny, and the best part is—it’s got a lot more Dory.”

Director Andrew Stanton, whose last production was the critically mauled John Carter is back at the helm. Stanton commented: “There is no Dory without Ellen. She won the hearts of moviegoers all over the world—not to mention our team here at Pixar. One thing we couldn’t stop thinking about was why she was all alone in the ocean on the day she met Marlin. In ‘Finding Dory,’ she will be reunited with her loved ones, learning a few things about the meaning of family along the way.”

Disney Pixar have commented that the film will welcome back the old favourites like Albert Brooks as Marlin but there will also be a host of new characters for the project.

We’re just off to set a countdown timer for November 2015…
