Stay In The Smoochy Mood This Weekend… The Ten Best Romance Films

If you are still feeling loved up after Valentine’s Day, here are recommendations for the greatest romantic films to watch over the weekend.

Sue Murphy

Still feeling a little mushy and loved up? Get yourself into your pj’s, wrap up in a duvet and watch one of these romantic classics.

Partner optional.

10. Lady and the Tramp

One of cinema’s most romantic stories, this is a must watch for the spaghetti scene alone.

9. The Way We Were

Has Robert Redford ever looked better? Well besides An Officer and a Gentleman. Still though, swoon.

8. Ghost

Patrick Swayze is going to figure prominently in this list. First off, let’s make some sexy pottery… You’ll need the tissues shortly after.

7. Titanic

Sure, it’s a bit too long in parts but we love Kate Winslet and this movie really put Leo DiCaprio on the heartthrob map.

6. Moulin Rouge

Be prepared, this is one of the definitive romance stories of all time, but also one of the most heartbreaking…

5. The Notebook

Ryan built that house for you…. And he wrote to you. Every day! EVERY DAY!

4. Dirty Dancing

Nobody puts baby in a corner! Patrick Swayze Round 2.

3. Up

If you can get through this scene without shedding a tear, you must have no heart at all. We probably don’t recommend watching this clip unless you can sob somewhere on your own. People may give you strange looks…

2. Gone with the Wind

Scarlett and Rhett, history’s greatest on-screen couple. He does give a damn, he really does!

1. Casablanca

The ultimate romantic drama, Casablanca continues to top lists of the greatest love stories of all time. Get the tissues out, sob, hug the TV because… here’s looking at you, kid.
